2008 New Weave Artist News

Group Du Jour will present their brand-new "Listening In... To The Past 25 Years" CD compilation with a performance Saturday, May 17th at Mississippi Pizza Pub (3552 N. Mississippi, Portland, Oregon). Saturnalia Trio will open starting at 9:00 PM. $5 cover - 21 & over.

In honor of the 25th year of Group Du Jour, New Weave will release "Listening In... To The Past 25 Years" this spring - a compilation that includes 17 tracks spanning 1983-2008 with a few previously unreleased songs scattered among the signature songs that represent the cream of nearly 25 years together - including a newly recorded version of "Listening In", all newly remastered by our pal Jamie Haggerty who also did the amazing cover art!

Saturnalia Trio are recording a new album to be released this Summer! - about sixteen pieces are finished with a few others in various stages of completion. This project features the same line-up as "Of Mosaic & Muse" (Daniel Crommie, Leslie Gray and Paul Evans) augmented by new Saturnalian Tracey Brown playing Celtic Harp and vocalizing. After almost a year of fumbles with Download.com, there are a few free songs available there now under the name "Hummingbirds" - which is the name of the forthcoming album. Don't ask why - just trust me in knowing that for some unknown reason they couldn't deal with the name Saturnalia Trio. Here you'll find a link to Download.com...

Still moving forward... Group Du Jour has recorded about four-fifths of their next album with three new songs ("Art of Evil", "The Players" & "The Voices") and an impressive 24 minute instrumental opus completed. Further material will be recorded during the next few months with an eye toward releasing the new album sometime this autumn '08.

Wonderful Vision, Group Du Jour's 1987 LP is now available at Amazon. A classic GDJ recording with the quirky title track, a beautiful rendition of "Roses in the Rain" and four more tunes is pressed on high-quality vinyl and comes in a rugged poly sleeve to protect the glossy B&W artwork.

Those of you looking for FREE MP3's will find some goodies at download.com - Echo System, Daniel Crommie, Group Du Jour, Janie Mitchell and Saturnalia Trio (under the moniker "Hummingbirds") have tracks available for download there. There will be some goodies available at newweave.net this summer: rare, live and unreleased material from all New Weave artist will be downloadable as high-quality MP3's. Please do note that much of the New Weave catalogue is available for purchase online as high-quality MP3's from reputable vendors such as iTunes and emusic - trust me, we'd be more than delighted for you to purchase our music online.

Daniel Crommie will likely have a "best of" compilation out this year as well. Tentatively titled "Selective Amnesia", this newly remastered collection will span 1984-2007. An albums worth of new compositions have been recorded since last autumn and might see release by late this year if not sooner. Tentatively titled "Life Rattle", the album is mostly instrumental with a couple of vocal songs tossed in the mix.

Echo System Remastered!
By the end of the year New Weave will issue Echo System's "Bad Medicine" for the first time on CD with both the original 1986 version and the 1996 remixes, plus two bonus tracks. "Bad Medicine" will be remastered by Jamie Haggerty and will feature an updated cover using Tom Dougherty's original computer generated artwork.
